What is the cityscanproject?

A free to use and fully independent initiative that aims to provide everyone with more transparency on how it is to be in a particular city with regard to ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and abilities in terms of:

• Career (e.g. do other women think they are payed fairly here?)

• Everyday Life (e.g. will the police treat me fairly?)

• Relationships (e.g. how easy is it to find friends there?)

How reliable is the data?

Quite good in my view. The data is gathered from people who populate the questionnaire voluntarily (many of whom I know personally at least in the first batch). There is no direct feed from the questionnaire into the used data. I use statistical analysis to prevent robots or other malignant sources to distort the data.

Who is financing this?

100% me. If you want to know why, check the "About"

Why is my city not included?

This covers all countries worldwide. Consequently, I had to set a population limit (I think about 200k) to keep things manageable. Every town below that population size isn't included.

If your city of interest isn't there, I recommend to look for one or two bigger cities close-by (where possible). This might still give you an indication of what the place is like.
